Pacific Biodiversity Institute (PBI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to conducting scientific research to enhance biodiversity conservation and natural resource planning and management decisions. We also offer educational resources on biodiversity conservation and natural resource management through our website and through conservation science internships for young professionals. We make extensive use of volunteer citizen scientists in many of our projects. We tackle conservation problems at multiple spatial scales – from small watersheds to states, nations, and continents..

. PBI currently has two offices in Winthrop, Washington and Missoula, Montana.

The Development Director will ideally live and work primarily in Washington State’s Puget Sound region. We are also open to applicants who have well-established fundraising connections working in other urban centers.

We offer an exceptional job opportunity with a competitive salary for an experienced development director with proven success designing and executing a full range of philanthropic and other fundraising activities. The Development Director will start as a part-time position (50% to 75% time) but may soon develop into a full time position.

We offer considerable flexibility in work hours and schedules. Reporting to PBI’s Executive Director, the Director of Development will be responsible for leading the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of all aspects of the organization’s fundraising.

Our fund development program places special emphasis on major and planned gifts from individuals, private family foundations, and corporations. We also seek a person with expertise in organizing and conducting combined educational/fundraising events focused on our major initiatives. The Director of Development will also assist with fundraising through grants (government and private), service contracts (with public agencies, NGOs and private companies), special appeals, annual campaigns, membership relations and promotion, and special events.
