“I wanted to thank you all for teaching me how to be a concise writer. Congressman Denny Heck’s office called me last week saying he would be in Shelton today and that he wanted to talk to me about the Asset Building Coalition.I have never been in a situation in which an elected official came to me for information. I had to quickly create a highlights paper that described the Asset Building Coalition of Mason County’s programs and accomplishments…during finals week. 

I am happy to say that (the MPA faculty) prepared me to write quickly, clearly and concisely for decision makers.

The highlights paper was easy for me to create on short notice, the congressman was impressed (so were the coalition leaders), and I felt very prepared for our meeting. This would not have been the case before I took MPA second year core.
