Got a Mac? Update it NOW!

We’ve all heard the common Mac mantra, that Mac users don’t need to worry about security concerns because they don’t get viruses. That’s a lie. A particularly nasty botnet called Flashback has been making the rounds in the past couple of days and has infected nearly three quarters of a million Mac computers. If you use OSX 10.6 or 10.7, run the system updater (Apple Menu -> System Updates) and make sure to get the update for Java. If you use an earlier version, Apple is not releasing a security update for your software and instead you should disable the Java plugin in your browser.
