Drop-In Assignment

Abbi and I worked on out drop-in assignment after class the other day. After listening to a few songs we decided to go with a track by Lykke Li. I had never heard of her, but I enjoyed the song. The process was fun. Abbi put down a drum track, which was off beat, but I didn’t want to hurt her feelings. I probably should’ve mentioned it, though. I put down an acoustic guitar track and a bass track. It turned out pretty OK.

The Dragster Wave Final Mix

For the first night of recording, my girlfriend came with and worked the recording button while I played piano then sang. I made the mistake of not taking pictures that night. Or maybe I took them on my girlfriend’s phone…

The second night I was by myself. I learned a lot and got to play the drums for the first real time! So much fun. It turned out pretty well.

Recording Amy

I was able to record my friend, Amy, while she played piano and sang. I used the Blumlein technique with two Fatheads underneath the piano. I didn’t really care for it in the end. I put the multi-use TS-1 mic looking into the piano. It was pleasant. For her voice I used a Sennheiser 421 and an AKG 460B. They were nice. Everything went well except one of the monitors wasn’t working. We both ended up playing Mad World together.

Winter Project 1

First Audio Recording Session

Ryan Connelly and I waited forever to record something for our Intro to Audio project. We ended up with a cruddy-sounding recording, but it was a great learning experience.

I Passed My Audio Room Test

The title gives it away, but I passed my test and can now use the audio recording room to work on projects!

A New Hope
