The Work

The work being done in the field of noosphere studies is fascinating and proved to be it’s own call to adventure. The article titled Mediacology closely aligns with the direction I focused on, clarifying communications using social media networks strategically.

My name is Mary K Johnson. To create this work, I drew from my career in graphic arts, that was focused on the macrocosmic consumer markets of Costco Wholesale (a major US retailer), and also the microcosmic local market – serving small businesses and events promotions opportunities of South Puget Sound. This project led me to explore the deeper meaning behind the roles I have fulfilled for the past twelve years. Areas of interest in the research material aligned with my personal goals to find ways to apply what I knew about marketing in order to help humanity. This work also reflects the world a grew up in, a home populated with professionals practicing psychology and computer science. This blend of life experience led me to formulate tools that will help facilitate directed intention, supporting students who wish to develop networks to potentially enhance their next transition and even add new dimension to their current interests by making mutually beneficial connections via social networks – the digital noosphere.

It was my aim from the beginning to find ways to broaden the reach of interested Evergreen students, who are so good at adapting to various situations due to their interdisciplinary experiences. I hope this project inspires people to take ownership of their wonderful ideas and recognize the hero inherent in themselves.

Bucky Fuller once said that our challenge is “to make the world work for 100% of humanity, in the shortest possible time, through spontaneous cooperation without ecological offense or the disadvantage of anyone.” This adventure felt like a good opportunity for igniting some spontaneous cooperation along this line of thinking.

This work was made possible by the Noosphere Award from The Evergreen State College Foundation.
