Week 9 tasting lab:
The meal we had consisted of grilled leeks, a creamy peanut soup, and a pheasant stew.
Although I was not able to eat the stew (since there was bacon in it), I did really enjoy both the peanut soup and the cooked leeks. I personally never have had either of these dishes before- with leeks being cooked the way they were, with the extra ingredients and flavors added, and have never had peanut soup before. I have heard of boiling peanuts, but I’m not sure if I have ever had peanuts in a soup before. I found both dishes to be incredibly tasty. I was happy to try something I had never had before, and was impressed by the flavors and textures. The creaminess of the soup was fantastic, and was not too rich. The leeks were gently cooked, but still had some crunchiness to them, and it was fun to bite into them, to have all their layers reveal themselves.
