I bought this sketchbook from one of my students, Marina, who had recycled the covers of an old cookbook, filling them with drawing paper. I used this as my field journal and sketchbook for Frederica Bowcutt’s 2010 faculty institute botanizing on Mt. Rainier*, and again on a hike to view wildflowers in the Grand Valley area of the Olympic National Park. In between are 2 pages of notes from Caryn Cline’s August 2010 Botanicalista direct animation workshop at the Northern in Olympia.
*Frederica and I are teaching Picturing Plants together in spring, 2013.
I’ve reproduced the book in its entirety to give some sense of it as an object.
