Earth Economics is a visionary non‐profit organization that aims to transform the way our earth is valued. We have an opening for a Research Assistant Intern in the Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia region. Candidates must be seeking an undergraduate or graduate degree in economics, public policy, communications or a related field. Someone who seeks to positively shape the region’ economy for future generations, have a positive can‐do attitude, and limitless energy should apply.

Tasks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist Earth Economics staff with economic research with an emphasis on ecological issues, sustainable development, watershed resources and history, and economic analysis of ecosystem health and dynamics.
  • Support a cross-­‐organizational team with workshop planning and execution.
  • Review of primary ecosystem service valuation studies.
  • Assist Earth Economics and partners with grant seeking, fundraising, grant writing.
  • Work 8 to 15 hours per week (anticipated).

Qualifications:

  • Some academic experience with mathematical/statistical models (regression analysis)
  • Strong familiarity with Excel
  • Strong written, verbal and organization skills.
  • Demonstrable ability to conduct and summarize research or literature reviews in a concise, timely, and intelligible manner.
  • Self‐motivation and ability to work independently are critical.

Compensation:

  • Compensation is available only for Washington State work-study students, otherwise the position will be limited to volunteers.
  • If academic credit is needed, Earth Economics will work with your institution or faculty advisor to meet your internship requirements.
