Troop Program Supervisor

Girl Scouts of Western Washington (www.girlscoutsww.org) is seeking a Troop Program Supervisor to join our King County Membership team.  The Troop Program Supervisorleads a team that supports the many volunteers that make Girl Scouting possible for girls in King County.   They work in partnership with the Regional Director and the regional Community Development team in a cross-functional staff structure.  They direct and oversee the implementation of quality programming, growth and retention in Girl Scout troops in King County. The position ensures girls experience quality program delivery based on the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) and that the volunteers are adequately supported.  This is a full-time position, based in Bellevue with generous paid leave and full health benefits.

Essential Functions:

 

Primary

 

Responsible for leading a team that will ensure girls participating in Girl Scouts experience quality program based on the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE).  The program and quality should support the organization’s strategic plan and program initiatives and whenever possible link to National Program Portfolio, such as Journeys.

 

Supervise assigned staff.  Recruit, interview, hire, provide training and development as appropriate, evaluate, counsel, provide conflict management and discipline as needed, and terminate if necessary. Provide regular one-on-one meetings with staff to ensure goal achievement and timely support to troops and service unit volunteers, and conduct staff team meetings.  Support staff retention and professional growth.

 

Actively collaborate with other departments to ensure girl and volunteer growth goals through retention and recruitment are obtained. Primary collaboration is with members of the regional Community Development team and the Regional Program Manager.

Be available to supervise service units, when needed. (e.g.: volunteer led support structure to troops). Provide guidance and support to service unit volunteers that lead coordinated programmatic events and activities for girls and strengthening volunteer support at the service unit level, using the Safety Checkpoints and Risk Management procedures. Partner with Community Development to develop and implementation of annual membership recruitment plan that includes girl growth and volunteer recruitment goal setting.

 

Direct the on-going development of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience programming to troops by creating and delivering program support materials, volunteer workshops that are focused on grade-level groupings, and informal learning opportunities for troop leaders that strengthen troop retention. Partner with service unit volunteers to support these efforts.

 

Responsible for timely girl and volunteer placement, including new troop formation using consistent processes in troops, that leads to annual girl growth and strengthening girl market share.

 

Lead the development and implementation of projects and programs that support the Membership Department and/or a cross functional department team.

 

Create and manage budgets for assigned area.

 

Manage volunteer conflicts with Troop Program Managers; keep Regional Director updated and include other GSWW leadership, as needed.

 

Support the growth and development to serve girls in diverse communities.

 

Serve on rotation as a Council Emergency Response Contact system.

 

In addition to the above, perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

 

·         Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent education and work experience

·         Minimum three years’ experience successfully managing or supporting volunteers in direct or indirect program delivery

·         Minimum two years’ experience supervising employees

·         Demonstrated success working in cross-functional teams

·         Knowledge of youth development strongly preferred

·         Knowledge of Girl Scout program helpful

·         Previous work experience utilizing conflict resolution skills

·         Skilled in Outlook, Word and Excel, and familiarity with database systems

·         Strong verbal and written communication skills

·         Requires a positive customer service approach and attitude with good interpersonal skills

·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary to be able to work with individuals at all levels and backgrounds.

·         Possesses a positive attitude with strong work ethic, integrity and honesty

·         Ability to coordinate multiple projects while managing conflicting priorities and deadlines

·         Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritizes deadlines, work independently, take initiative, highly organized, and maintain confidentiality in a fast paced and challenging work environment

·         Must have access to personal transportation on a daily basis for business travel, valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and a good driving record

·         Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends as required by position responsibilities

·         Demonstrated commitment to support and enhance the diversity and cultural and global awareness of girls, volunteers and staff

·         Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize deadlines, work independently, take initiative and maintain confidentiality

·         Valid Washington State driver’s license, vehicle in working condition, proof of insurance, a good driving record and the ability to fulfill timely and travel requirements, primarily King County

·         Satisfactory results from criminal background search

·         Maintain membership in Girl Scouts of the United States of America
