We are dedicated to bringing a revenue­neutral carbon tax to Washington State​by placing an initiative on the 2016 ballot.

Our proposal is modeled on British Columbia’s successful tax swap. We believe it is the best way for Washington State to increase energy security and fight climate change. We are hiring a team of full­time and part­time regional organizers​to lead our volunteer network in collecting 315,000 signatures between April and October 2015. We are looking to fill regional vacancies in Whatcom County, Thurston County, and the greater Seattle area but are open to interested candidates across Washington State. T

he ideal start date is late March. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) Program Development and Implementation

● Create and implement a regional campaign plan

● Meet signature goals identified in regional campaign plan

● Recruit, train, and mentor new volunteers to be successful signature gatherers

● Facilitate the strengthening of existing chapters and the creation of new chapters

● Occasionally organize purely social campaign events to ensure volunteer retention

.● Act as the liaison between local volunteer leaders and central staff

● Ability to travel as needed – valid driver’s license and access to a car required Reporting

● Keeps the Organizing Director fully informed on a regular basis with thorough records of signatures collected and volunteer attendance

● Attend weekly campaign and chapter meetings

● Other duties as assignedIdeal candidates should possess a combination of the following: Professional Experience:

● Experience with political campaigns, activism or community organizing

● Experience managing volunteers, or as a volunteer yourself

● Experience with data management, ideally in NGP VAN, and/or Google Drive

● Bachelors degree (progress towards one OK) or other higher education.

● Knowledge of climate change and/or environmental politics

● Familiarity and connections within the region you are applying for

Compensation Compensation will be structured in part from base pay (set DOE) and in part through incentives for meeting campaign targets. Expected rate between $15­$21. Benefits are not included. This position is temporary and we are willing to be flexible in terms of start/end date and hours per week for excellent candidates.
