POSITION PROFILE:

We are looking for interns (no salary) who are interested in getting experience in natural hazard and risk analyses. Position will involve data collection, data analyses and mapping/reporting of natural hazard/risks in Washington State. Interns will learn how to use GIS in natural hazard/risk assessment and will have a chance to use FEMA HAZUS-MH (Earthquake and Flood Models) software for various risk analyses cases.

• BSc (graduates) and MSc, PhD (students or graduates) in geology, earth sciences, or related disciplines
• Experience in Excel

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

• ArcGIS

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

• Ability to work on uneven terrain in all weather conditions.
• The incumbent in this position is required to travel.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and have two years of driving experience. 
• Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
