Pierce County Public Works Department is seeking a qualified individual to fill an Americorps Individual Placement position in their Surface Water Management section. This person will serve in the outreach and communication program. Specific focus will be on implementation and evaluation of the natural yard care outreach program and the low impact development outreach program. The member will participate in training, community outreach events and program promotions. The member will participate on a multi-agency team for the natural yard care and low impact development programs. The member’s focus will be on program evaluation and improvement. The member will receive specialized training related to development and evaluation of behavior change programs and master gardener training. The member will serve with multi-jurisdictional project teams to implement their evaluation plans and recommend program improvements that will be implemented in 2016. The member will engage with area residents and master gardeners through surveys and interviews to collect program data and will compile and present that data to the project team. A successful candidate should have a background in community outreach and data collection, especially related to surveys and interviews. The candidate should have an interest in gardening and completing the master gardener training (a one-day per week 10-week course). The candidate will also endeavor on a social media promotions strategy, and so familiarity with social media platforms and promotions will be an asset to the successful candidate. This position is contingent on funding.

 

This position will work from 1/16/16 – 7/15/16 and must meet the requirements of Americorps placement, including being 18-25 years old.
