The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is recruiting to fill one full time, permanent, Fish and Wildlife Biologist 2 position located in the Wildlife Program, Region 3.  The duty station is 2620 N. Commercial Ave, Pasco, Franklin County, WA.This person serves as an Assistant Manager of the Sunnyside/Snake River Wildlife Area (SSRWA), which includes more than 20,000 acres within Yakima, Benton, Franklin and Walla Walla counties. He or she assists with planning and developing priorities and implementing the SSRWA Management Plan including implementation of all habitat, fish and wildlife and recreational use management activities on the Wildlife Area.

The incumbent is a journey level professional Biologist under general supervision that conducts professional biological studies; and/or is responsible for monitoring, restoration, management or research of fish, wildlife, lands or habitat. Using predefined methodologies and/or predetermined criteria, biologists in this class also interpret data in relation to laws, rules, and regulations to make decisions in response to emerging situations in the field, on public or private lands. FISH & WILDLIFE BIOLOGIST 2

The Department of Fish and Wildlife is recruiting to fill one full time, permanent, Fish & Wildlife Biologist 2 position located in the Habitat Program, Science Division. The duty station for this position is the WDFW Headquarters Office in Olympia, Thurston County.

The primary purpose of this position is to lead marine shoreline monitoring efforts around Puget Sound to help better understand the effects of shoreline modification and restoration efforts and provide a means of comparison across sites and time by using consistent easily replicated monitoring techniques across multiple sites.
The incumbent is a journey level professional Biologist under general supervision that conducts professional biological studies; and will be responsible for:

  • Planning, designing using predefined methodologies and/or predetermined criteria, and implementing a monitoring plan to collect consistent information from shoreline modification and restoration projects.
  • Using established procedures, coordinating and collaborating with research partners, Habitat Biologists and project managers to ensure consistent quality data, and to facilitate exchange of information and resources.
  • Analyzing and reporting on the results of the monitoring surveys.

This position and project contributes to the agency’s mission to preserve, protect and perpetuate fish, wildlife and ecosystems while providing sustainable fish and wildlife recreational and commercial opportunities and its strategic plan to support healthy ecosystems and maximize the impact of limited resources by supporting efforts to protect and restore critical habitats and supporting healthy ecosystems.
