$21.00 per hour.

This a part-time, temporary position for at least two years (no more than 29 hours per week and not eligible for benefits). 

This position will assist with activities related to the development and maintenance of the City’s Geographic Information System.  Under the direction of the GIS Administrator this position researches and updates databases; collects and inputs data; and develops, produces and analyzes output.  The primary responsibility will be to update and maintain the city’s water, sanitary sewer, storm drain and streets GIS data using record drawings, survey grade GPS and ArcGIS 10.X.
Job Duties
  1. Maintains record drawing tracking system and pdf files.
  2. Imports record drawing CAD files to utility GIS databases.
  3. Researches and verifies accuracy and completeness of utility GIS databases.
  4. Collects field data using mapping or survey grade GPS.
  5. Verifies and imports GPS data to utility and streets GIS databases.

Qualifications

  • Two years of college or university coursework in geography, engineering, earth sciences, or related field with specific training in GIS technology using ArcGIS software.
  • One year of experience performing a variety of the essential job duties.
  • Ability to effectively operate a Windows based computer including word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications as well as ESRI ArcGIS 10.X, AutoCAD and other software applications related to assigned department/division.
  • Ability to read and interpret utility construction drawings.
  • Basic knowledge of global positioning system (GPS) equipment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Possession of, or ability to possess within one month of hire date, a Washington State Driver license.
