The Department of Fish and Wildlife is recruiting to fill one full time, permanent, Game Division Manager (WMS3) position.  The position is within the Washington Management Service.

Duties

Reporting to the Assistant Director of the Wildlife Program, the Game Division Manager directs and integrates a diverse divisional program by applying Department policies, administrative rules, and statutes to manage game species.  The Game Division Manager develops hunting season and regulation proposals by applying sound wildlife management principles and incorporates feedback learned through extensive public outreach and advisory group consultations.  The incumbent will direct the work of 19 staff members within the Division and coordinate the implementation of the Division’s priority activities by setting work plans for over 40 regionally deployed field staff.  This position will advise the Assistant Director for the Wildlife Program on all matters of significance in the Game Division and will routinely communicate to the Director and Executive Management Team, the Fish and Wildlife Commission, and the legislature.  The incumbent will manage a biennial budget of $11 million across a variety of state and federal revenue sources and contracts.  The position will routinely work with the legislature and prepare bill analyses and fiscal notes.  The Game Division Manager will work with dozens of national and state organized sports groups with strong opinions and desires about game management.
