There is one (1) regular full-time Education and Outreach Program Assistant position in the Public Health and Social Services Department’s Emergency Preparedness Program.
The position of Education & Outreach Program Assistant provides administrative and technical support to the Emergency Preparedness and Response Program. This position also assists with the organization and implementation of Department volunteer Medical Reserve Corps volunteer program.
Additional duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
- Working closely with member volunteers to answer questions and provide regular communication, including volunteer recruitment, retention, orientation/training and recognition activities.
- Maintaining member volunteers’ data base, social media and communication tools.
- Processing new volunteers paperwork and providing other administrative duties.
- Providing written and oral evaluations; preparing regular and special program reports.
- Scheduling, coordinating and arranging facilities and equipment needs and estimating associated cost for training and drill activities.
- Assisting with community outreach presentations, implementing training drills that may include activation and deployment activities.
- Assisting with implementation of community events and coordination of volunteers participating in public health activities.
- Working closely with local and regional response agencies and community partners in support of preparedness and response activities.
- Responsible for assigned daily office functions and other duties as assigned.
- Collaboratively works with the Emergency Preparedness and Response team to assist with program effectiveness, response activities and efforts to maximize program impact on the community.
