The City of Portland’s Bureau of Parks and Recreation is seeking a Development Manager to lead the bureaus fundraising efforts. This position is located in the Community Relations Department of Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R). The position is tasked with relationship management and leveraging outside resources for investing in PP&R’s capital projects and recreation programs. This work includes sponsorship, donations and grants and grants management (including overseeing, editing and writing public sector/governmental grants) for specified purposes. This position acts as a lead on all fundraising efforts within the bureau and acts as a consultant / advisor to partner organizations, including as a liaison and planning partner with PP&R’s chief philanthropic partner, the Portland Parks Foundation.

The Development Manager is also responsible for working with project/program managers and other key staff to ensure the successful stewardship of sponsorship agreements and compliance to the scope of work outlined in any grant funded activity. The Development Manager operates with a high degree of authority, independence and decision making.

This position will apply a knowledge of leading sponsorship or donor programs, grant writing and grants management, and experience in collaborative projects and long-term development planning. This position will work to evolve and mature organizational and program-related systems, protocols, policies and infrastructure to support the bureau’s development efforts.
