The Natural Resources Maintenance Tech assists the Natural Resources Department in fieldwork pertaining to the restoration of natural areas; uses knowledge of natural resources to perform trail work and natural areas maintenance, provide education for the public on the Park District and ecological issues; and lead volunteer habitat stewardship projects. The Natural Resources Tech tends to work in one of two areas; Field Technician and/or Project Oriented Technician.

***The field-oriented technician works primarily in the field performing maintenance on natural areas and trails. This position works Monday through Friday for up to six months. Primary job duties include: Maintain and repair trails, parking areas, fences, park equipment and signs Support habitat restoration and natural area maintenance through debris removal, material deliveries, planting and weeding. Safely operate power tools such as chainsaw, hedge trimmer, and string trimmer

***The project-oriented technician works in the field and the office in support of our volunteer programs. This position work Thursday through Saturday on an ongoing basis. Primary job duties include: Direct, plan and organize the work of volunteers in performing tasks at stewardship projects, ensuring a safe work environment for volunteers. Provide education for the public on volunteer opportunities and ecological issues. Develop and distribute outreach materials Assist on office projects.
