ABOUT THE POSITION

The position serves as a Recreation Technician in OHV Developed Recreation and Special Use Administration for the Hebo Ranger District on the Siuslaw National Forest. This position combines duties of recreation management working with State OHV grants and budget, supervision of Sand Lake Recreation Area staff, and managing and administering the Special Use Program for the district. This position will report directly to the district Recreation and Lands Staff. The incumbent will have responsibility for insuring the daily operation and maintenance of Sand Lake Recreation Area is to standard. This recreation area has 4 campgrounds, septic and water systems, an open riding area, and a day use area. Sand Lake Recreation Area is open 365 days/year. This position also manages the district Special Use Program. This program will take approximately 40% of this positions time.

Straddling the Oregon Coast Range, the Hebo Ranger District is one of the few lower 48 National Forests to be positioned on ocean front real estate.

THE DUTY STATION

The position will be stationed in Hebo, OR. Government housing is not available but temporary housing in the district bunkhouse may be considered for a short period.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Applicants must be knowledgeable working in Special Uses Administration, budget planning and cost tracking, Grant writing and Recreation Management. The applicant must be able to qualify as an FPO, and be qualified by time or education for a GS-7 position.
