Ash Creek Forest Management, LLC is seeking ECOLOGICAL RESTORATION CREW MEMBERS with skills and experience to assist Ash Creek Forest Management, LLC with plant installation, maintenance, management and monitoring of ecological restoration projects located in the Salem area and north along the I5 corridor.

Title: ECOLOGICAL RESTORATION CREW MEMBER
Status:Full-time dependent upon completion of a 2-month introductory period
Wage: $14-15 /hour

Benefits: 40 hours paid sick leave, subsidized group health insurance, volunteer time off policy, travel stipend
Location: 50% of work will take place in Salem, Oregon. 50% in locations north along the I5 corridor

Transportation: Provide own transportation to work sites or carpool locations

Job Description:

– Control noxious weeds through careful, precise application of herbicides using backpack sprayer

– Plant bareroot trees and shrubs

– Install container plants, plugs and bulbs

– Prepare and install native plant pole cuttings

– Maintain native tree and shrub plantings using hand-tools and power tools

– Perform site preparation using chainsaws

– Repair, clean and maintain all hand and power tools in operating conditions

– Operate company tractors, ATVs and trucks

– Collect native plant seed

Experience/Qualifications (Required):

– Ability, motivation and endurance for eight to ten hours of productive manual labor

– Ability towork outdoors across uneven terrain during inclement weather

– Ability to work collaboratively with a team

– Experience using hand and power tools (Chainsaw, shovel, hoedad, etc.)

– Ability to safely lift 60 lbs.

– Valid drivers license

Experience/Qualifications (Desired):

– Chemical Applicator’s License (OR) and skill with herbicide application methods

– Knowledge of Oregon native plants and habitats

– Math skills and organizational ability

– Spanish/English language skills

– First AID/CPR certification

– Horticultural skills
