Student Activities Desk Assistants provide assistance and resources to the campus community at the Campus Information Desk and the Student Activities Office Front Desk with a high level of customer service. In addition to customer service, a Desk Assistant provides clerical support to the Student Activities Office professional staff. The Student Activities Desk Assistants report to the Director of Student Activities Administration or their designee.

Specific Responsibilities
-Provide friendly, proactive, and effective customer service to a wide variety of audiences including students, student organizers, the campus community, and campus visitors

-Communicate important information clearly, both written and verbal, to the campus community including space directions, event information, policy & procedure, and various resources on campus

-Assist with clerical duties including copying, filing, data input, space scheduling, equipment check-out, and deliveries

-Maintain safe, clean, and orderly spaces: report building issues to Facilities, report security issues to Police Services, keep desk areas clean and free of clutter, clear building bulletin boards as scheduled, and assist with regular office clean-up efforts

-Utilize many technology platforms to increase job effectiveness including Microsoft Outlook and Excel, Google Drive & Calendar, and web-based database software as well as office machinery such as multi-line telephones, copy machines, printers, and scanners

-Attend mandatory staff meetings with additional workshops and trainings as necessary

-Be a student of The Evergreen State College in good standing and enrolled for at least 6-credits

-Be dependable with the ability to arrive on time, alert and ready for work

-Be a customer-service oriented person with excellent verbal and written communication skills

-Be able to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking office

-Be able to work with people in groups and one-on-one, as well as individually

-Be capable of working across differences of race, color, religion, creed, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, marital status, age, disability, pregnancy, or status as a disabled veteran, a Vietnam era veteran or other covered veteran

-Computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and web-based programs

-This position is available for work study and part-time work
