These applications will be used statewide to determine locations for transportation improvements and funding eligibility. - Provide direct customer support and training in the use of GIS applications.
- Analyze and resolve problems in the use of web, desktop, and server GIS applications.
- Design and document complex GIS processes and workflows.
- Develop user documentation, website help utilities, and custom training materials.
- Design test plans, research new technology, and create redundant systems.
- Perform version compatibility testing.
- Monitor the performance of applications and make system modifications as needed.
- Develop and recommend standards for web- and desktop-based GIS applications and websites.
- Develop and maintain complex automated mapping systems.
- Develop, recommend, and evaluate software.
- Conduct spatial analysis and assist customers with large scale data issues.
- Perform quality analysis for spatial data and provide disaster recovery analysis.
- Monitor and fine tune the performance of GIS databases and applications.
- Provide data translations to make spatial data compatible with GIS needs.
- Qualifications, Required & Requested Skills
- Minimum Qualifications:
Four (4) years of geographic information systems experience.
OR
An associate’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field (such as geography, GIS, geology, planning, mathematics, social sciences, natural resources, computer science or a closely related spatial data analysis field), or completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field AND two (2) years of geographic information systems experience.
OR
(c) A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field (such as those listed above) may substitute for all of the above.Preferred Attributes/Application Scoring Criteria: In addition to your related work experience and education, we will use the attributes below to determine whom to interview. - ArcGIS desktop, ArcGIS server, ArcGIS Online and mobile GIS skills.
- Proficiency in scripting, Python, FME, or similar program skills.
- Integration of GIS projects with MS-SQL server or other related RDBMS skills.
- Educational background and work experience in spatial and statistical GIS analysis.
- Experience and training in digital and hard copy cartography and managing geodatabases.
- Experience developing customer requirements, managing contracted GIS services, and delivering projects for a diverse GIS user audience.
Working Conditions:
- Occasional exposure to heavy traffic and inclement weather.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
- Occasional overnight travel.
