The National Wildlife Federation will be hosting a Habitat Stewards Training in Des Moines, WA at the Marine Science & Technology Center (Highline College). This special training runs for 4 weeks beginning in February, with Tuesday evening class dates on 2/13, 2/20, 2/27, & 3/6 from 6-9pm. Participants will enjoy presentations from local environmental experts on topics such as natural yard care, rain gardens, natural history, species identification, and more. In addition, two Saturday field trips will take place on February 17th & March 3rd (location & time TBA). A few examples of past field trips include a visit to a wildlife preserve, group birding outings, or a habitat restoration work party.

The training is fun, engaging and participants become Certified Habitat Stewards with the NWF! This opportunity is a great way to expand your learning while exploring projects that can benefit both wildlife and your community.

*Cost of the training is $30 to cover classroom materials. Note: scholarships are available! No one will be turned down due to lack of funds. We will provide coffee, tea, and snacks at each training session. A 30 hour volunteer commitment is required within a year after the training, which will give you the opportunity to apply your newfound knowledge!
