The department of Enterprise Services is a different kind of state agency. We exist in a competitive marketplace where we recognize customer satisfaction is vital to our success.  Our Consolidated Mail Services (CMS) is one of our programs with a major role in delivering great customer value for our agency.

At CMS, our core function is to streamline government mailing and allow state employees to focus on their agencies’ priorities. This goal is pursued by offering a complete assortment of cost-saving mailing options and fulfilling our role as mail experts for the state of Washington. We provide services to State Agencies, Institutions, Community Colleges, Universities and Political Subdivisions, and Non-Profit Organizations.

This position will lead the swing shift insert team. Our inserting and mailing preparation services save our customer’s valuable time, allowing them to concentrate on their core business. Every team in CMS contributes to the programs core function and values, working together to build a strong business. You could be part of this dedicated team.

As a swing shift position, typical hours are Monday through Friday 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The location of the CMS building could not be much better. It is minutes from I-5 and a few blocks from the heart of downtown Olympia where you can find great places to eat, shop, or visit the waterfront.

Duties
When you work at DES, you learn our overall agency goals, which we call the big three; Customer Satisfaction, Team Satisfaction, and Financial Health. As a supervisor, you play a critical role in helping your team, the CMS program, and ultimately DES, achieve these goals.

Your role in customer satisfaction: The leadership team for CMS works to determine what our customers need to be completely satisfied and working with our teams, determines what needs to be done to make changes, adjustments to current practices and policies, or innovate new ways of how we work. As a leader, you are the change agent for your team. You facilitate the need of the customer and the work of the team. Working with your peers, you find ways to listen to the experts on the floor and involve the team in making your work better. You will also be responsible for ensuring schedules are followed and that you have the staff on hand to get the work done.

Your role in team satisfaction: The work of CMS is performed in a production environment that has heavy equipment, fast running insert and sorting machines, heavy materials, and high capacity trucks and vans coming and going throughout the day. A safe work place is a contributor to a happy workplace. Your role is to ensure your team understands the safety rules, expectations, and the importance of safety, for the CMS building, and their particular work area. A team that has a goal and understands how to reach it together can also produce a satisfied team. Providing clear production goals and expectations while helping the team reach them is an expectation of this position.

The success of your team and the program contributes to the financial health of CMS and DES overall. Working with the leadership team and the insert team to achieve customer and team satisfaction, it all adds up to a successful program and a flourishing DES.
