Primary responsibilities for this position will be teaching and creating environmental lessons to K-8 students in a classroom setting during the school year (could include older students at times), staffing the City’s Environmental Services community events outreach booth, teaching summer camps, and creating art environmental lessons. We hope to foster students’ desire to make changes in daily life to promote environmental lessons, build relationships with schools and environmental communities partners to promote environmental sustainability.
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in teaching or environmental studies and two years work experience in teaching (formal or informal) to youth;
OR
Six years’ experience in formal or informal teaching to youth with emphasis on arts and environment.
Desired:
•Experience teaching youths
•Teaching certificate with Arts endorsement
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Washington Driver’s License.
A complete background check to include fingerprinting and successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Intelligence background clearance/sexual misconduct clearance.
