This recruitment is for one full-time, non-permanent Program Specialist 2 position for our Headquarters’ office in Thurston County, WA.

This non-permanent position is scheduled to end on June 30, 2019.

Duties
Under the direction of the Operations Support Manager, this position is responsible for the collection of operational data from a variety of sources and is expected to summarize, review, classify and accurately compile data that will be used to study program trends, identify issues, compose reports, and aide in program planning.  This position will make recommendations on program processes and activities, enhancing the overall effectiveness of Operations Support.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Collect, compile, review, and classify data for multiple programs within Operations Support, and use this data to study program trends, identify issues assist with program planning, and/or for reporting purposes.
  • Complete reporting requirements through filling out forms, direct exports of data, or summarization of data, to include composing narrative explanations.
  • Assist in the review of existing program content and activities, implementation of processes, outreach to staff, and make recommendations to improve data collection and program activities.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Three (3) years of experience collecting and managing data, and
  • One (1) year of planning and implementing programs

**College level education may be substituted year-for-year for experience (up to 3 years) but you must have at least one college level course in statistics or mathematics and at least one year of experience collecting and managing data in a professional office setting**

DESIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Strong knowledge in mathematics and/or statistics.
  • Skilled in reviewing data to identify questionable numbers and information.
  • Effective written communication.
  • Strong organizational skills to store and easily access multiple sources of data and reports electronically.

Insurance Benefits

Retirement and Deferred Compensation
State Employees are members of the Washington Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS).  New employees have the option of two employer contributed retirement programs.  For additional information, check out the Department of Retirement Systems‘ web site.
 
Employees also have the ability to participate in the Deferred Compensation Program (DCP).  This is a supplemental retirement savings program (similar to an IRA) that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.
 
Vacation (Annual Leave)
You begin accruing vacation starting your first month of employment. Since we value your loyalty, the amount of vacation you can accrue increases the longer you work with us. Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year. Vacation accrues for full-time employees per WAC 357-31-165.

Social Security
