DESCRIPTION

The Network GIS DevOp is responsible for developing and maintaining internal tools and services for the Amazon’s Network Development team. This role will be constantly challenged to drive continuous improvement and help deliver the highest quality, technically efficient, GIS in support of Amazon’s global network.

As a GIS DevOp, you will be a part of highly creative, efficient team tasked with tackling the most fascinating and challenging problems in regards to network design and inventory management. An Amazon GIS DevOp is always ready to dive deep with the latest trends in GIS while maintaining customer obsession and insisting on the highest standards, to deliver the most innovative solutions for Amazon.
Responsibilities
· Understand, analyze and develop software solutions based on requirements related to telecommunications and network market segments, customer base, and industry verticals. Solutions to include custom GIS desktop and web applications, geoprocessing services, APIs, etc
· Maintain and continuously manage new data
· Deploy and support an internal Enterprise GIS consisting of current Esri and open source offerings
· Configure, maintain and support production databases using industry standard RDBMS (PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server) and Amazon AWS offerings (RDS, DynamoDB, Redshift)
· Perform complex design, coding and testing of spatial applications using Python & JavaScript
· Able to think out of the box to address complex business and technical problems
· Willing to travel 5-10% of the time.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications (Minimum):
· BS in Computer Science or a relevant field, or equivalent work experience
· Equivalent experience to a Bachelor’s degree based on 3 years
· 3 years of experience as a GIS Developer (or a similar job function), including 3+ years of relevant experience with web development and desktop environments
· Proficiency in Python or JavaScript
· RDBMS experience with PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server (or equivalent)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications in addition to basic qualifications:
· Clear, professional communication skills able to contribute to team discussions, knowing when to contribute, when to listen, and when to ask questions
· Ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations, worldwide.
· Ability to prioritize multiple competing demands to deliver for the customers in a specific time window.
· A good developer will demonstrate that they can proactively and continually improve their level of knowledge about Amazon’s business and relevant technologies, and use this knowledge to deliver high quality, accurate software deliverables
· Experience with creating workflows, reports, and dashboards
· Experience working with Fiber/Telecom
· Familiarity with AWS offerings
