Fall Equity Symposium Announcement – Call for Proposals
The summer is flying by and the Office for Equity and Inclusion is feverishly planning for our first-ever Fall Equity Symposium 2018!! The theme is centered around “Deepening the Dialogue” and the purpose of the symposium is to:
- Empower our community members with tools to address inequities at Evergreen and beyond;
- Encourage ongoing personal and organizational cultural-competency development; and
- Provide brave and safe learning spaces that foster a greater sense of belonging for all members of the Evergreen community.
We hope the symposium spurs each of us to think about our own commitment to advancing inclusive excellence and how we can make this event successful for everyone at The Evergreen State College. The Office for Equity and Inclusion would love your assistance with the symposium! We are seeking volunteers to join in with planning efforts underway this summer and eventually ground zero assistance during the event. If you would like to get more involved, please see the list of sub-committees and contact names of the co-chairs below:
- Symposium Kick-off /Resource Fair/Luncheon Committee: Tina Kuckkahn-Miller, Kaile Adney, Meyar Mamis, and Bridget Irish

- Evergreen Equity Honors Committee: Emmie Forman and Chassity Holliman-Douglas

*IMPORTANT REMINDER*: The Proposal Selection Committee will continue accepting proposals to present at the symposium on a rolling basis throughout the summer as space permits. Faculty and Staff who are attending Summer Institutes featuring topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion are encouraged to submit a proposal! There are 5 different presentation formats offered for the symposium. Please refer to the attached “Call for Proposals” for more information.
