Job Description:

The University of Florida’s School of Forest Resources and Conservation is searching for a new coordinator for Florida’s successful Project Learning Tree (PLT) program (http://sfrc.ufl.edu/plt(link is external)), an existing national environmental education program that offers instructional resources and professional development for teachers and non-formal educators. The coordinator will work with industry, agency, and education partners to recruit, train and manage a network of approximately 100 volunteer facilitators who lead educator workshops; attract and manage financial resources; work with a state advisory committee, SFRC staff and faculty, coordinators of other SFRC programs, and national organization; develop and update program materials; manage an awards program for volunteers and educators; coordinate conferences and events; and supervise staff and student employees. This individual will implement a strategic plan to develop PLT educator programs (such as PLT Schools and PLT EE Centers) to meet needs in Florida and assess their effectiveness. The position is based in Gainesville, Florida and will require some state and national travel. Over time, we anticipate the coordinator will be able to contribute to several Extension programs offered at SFRC.
