Who we are looking for:

F&R is seeking an Environmental Scientist for our Roanoke, Virginia office! The selected candidate will work in a support role conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and hazardous materials assessments (i.e., asbestos, mold, lead, etc.).

 

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing:

Including but not limited to:

Conducting mold, asbestos, indoor air quality, and hazardous materials inspections

Conducting site assessments (industrial hygiene)

Soil and groundwater sampling

Writing technical reports and proposals

Ideal candidate will be involved with client maintenance and business development, proposals and presentations

Preparing Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments

Be willing to participate in occasional overnight travel, night, and/or weekend work

 

Qualifications

What you need to have:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant scientific discipline

Some experience in relevant field required (6 months or more)

Virginia Asbestos Inspector and Lead Inspector Licensing a plus but not required

Proficiency with standard word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications

Familiarity with environmental regulations and compliance practices

Excellent research, writing, organizational, and language skills

Be a team player who is honest, self-motivated and reliable

Consulting experience a plus

Relevant Licensure or Certification a plus

Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record required

Must be willing to participate in and pass F&R’s pre-employment screening including a background investigation, drug screening and driving record
