ICF is seeking to hire a mid-career professional looking to help execute and grow a broad portfolio of work on infrastructure resilience to climate change. Our team works with all levels of government and commercial clients to enhance the resilience of energy, water, and transportation systems, other critical infrastructure, and the vital societal and natural elements that make our communities whole. The consultant will join a team that provides world-class analysis that is based in rigorous science and clearly communicated to enable proactive planning and implementation of resilience solutions. The preferred location for this position is Los Angeles, but other locations (e.g., San Diego, San Francisco,) could be considered.

What you’ll do…

  • Serve as a key member on multi-disciplinary teams focused on applied climate adaptation and resilience projects for the public and private sector
  • Contribute technical expertise, project management, research, and innovation to execute and grow work related to infrastructure and community resilience to climate change and extreme weather risks
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior staff
  • Prepare presentations, reports, memoranda, and other high-quality work products
  • Complete tasks in a fast-paced and self-motivated environment in a timely and efficient manner
  • Specific project areas may include, but are not limited to: resilience for energy or water utilities, state and local resilience assessment and planning, climate impacts on natural resources, coastal sea level rise infrastructure impacts and resilience, and addressing the intersection of climate resilience and CEQA/NEPA

What you’ll need to have…

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental or other Earth Sciences, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Management, Business, Public Policy or related subjects
  • 4+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze technical information and synthesize findings for decision making
  • Demonstrated knowledge of climate change adaptation and resilience concepts
  • Experience managing project budgets and timelines with outstanding attention to detail and working with and leading multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-changing setting
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good organization skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects at once
  • Enthusiasm for learning quickly and creatively applying critical thinking to new problem areas
  • Ability to work with teams and clients both in-person and remotely
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)

Our Preferred Skills/Experience…

  • Master’s degree in Environmental or other Earth Sciences, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Management, Business, Public Policy or related subjects
  • Technical and team management experience for complex projects in a consulting environment
  • Prior experience with risk management, criticality assessments, and/or assessment of interdependencies in critical infrastructure
  • Expertise with cost-benefit analysis, infrastructure finance, and investment due diligence analyses
  • Experience with GIS
