Description

ARA’s team of scientists and engineers support emergency response planning, training, and real-time analysis through algorithm development, modeling and simulation, and data analysis. Our scientists are valued members of the team tasked with work that is critical to the success of our projects. Tasks associated with this position will include development of algorithms for CBRN transport, dispersion, and effects model development; and geospatial data analysis to include remote sensing and hydrological data.

Requirements of an Environmental Scientist

  • Bachelor’s degree in geography, hydrology, or related science. Applicant must also have two to four years of related professional experience.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, MATLAB, and ArcGIS software suites
  • Must have experience with geospatial data to include multispectral data analysis.
  • Must be detail oriented and experienced writing scientific reports and publications.
  • Candidates must be independent; self-motivated; and have excellent technical, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Must be able to obtain a favorable background investigation which will result in a security clearance.

Position Preferences

  • M.S. or PhD is preferred in Geography, or related discipline.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis of geospatial data.
  • Work experience relating collecting, processing, and assessing environmental data.
  • Active Secret security clearance is a strong plus.

Bachelor of Science or better in Geography or related field.
