The Site Stewards program is an opportunity for volunteers to build a relationship with one or more Nisqually Land Trust property. Site Stewards make quarterly visits to the property that they adopt and report back to the Land Trust with their observations.

Site Stewards often also get involved in controlling invasive plant infestations, identifying trespass issues, cleaning up trash and addressing other disturbances that hinder restoration efforts. It’s common for properties to have more than one Site Steward and we encourage and support volunteers in coordinating with the other Site Stewards at their site.

All Site Stewards go through a one-on-one orientation with a Land Trust staff member at the site(s) they “adopt.” Site orientation is important for gaining familiarity with the property, access points, and important safety and contact information.

At least one Site Steward workshop is hosted each year. The 2019 Site Steward Training Workshop will be on Saturday, February 11th.

Contact our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@nisqualllylandtrust.org to sign up for the workshop and for more information about our Site Stewards program.
