Recruiting for Resource Technician
$2,800 – 3,600 Monthly, DOQ
Position is with the Lewis Conservation District located in Chehalis, Washington. The list of eligible applicants will be used to fill a new position.
TO BE ELIGIBLE
High school graduate or GED equivalent and preferred two years of technical experience in an environmental agency or office. College level course work in environmental, physical or natural sciences, or closely related field may be substituted, year for year, for the preferred experience. Must have current Washington State driver’s license.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The position of Resource Technician 1 is a technical position of the Lewis Conservation District. The employee occupying this position performs activities as directed by the District Manager and reports monthly to the Board of Supervisors.
This position provides assistance to the Lewis Conservation District in developing and implementing conservation plans, including nutrient management for dairy, poultry and livestock operations. Restoration of riparian buffers along salmon bearing streams and surveying culverts may also be emphasized. The position will require working in inclement weather and may include walking long distances in brushy and hilly terrain.

RESOURCE TECHNICIAN (Planner)
JOB DESCRIPTION
Nature and Purpose of Position
This position of Resource Technician is a technical position of the Lewis Conservation District. The employee occupying this position performs activities as directed by the District Manager. The position will have direct oversite from and provide assistance to the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP) Coordinator/GIS Specialist and the Special Projects Coordinator.
General Definition of Work
This position provides assistance to the Lewis Conservation District in conservation planning and implementation. Areas of assistance include nutrient management, irrigation water management, Voluntary Stewardship Program (VSP), CREP and special projects.
Major Duties
1. Work with landowners to develop or update and implement conservation plans including nutrient management for livestock, dairy and poultry operations, irrigation water management, VSP and CREP.
2. Develop project plans and help with developing best technologies for each
practice.
3. Utilize various computer programs for word processing and spreadsheet entry.
Additional computer knowledge in Auto CAD and Arc View GIS software is
desirable.
4. Use survey equipment to help with surveying for creating designs and construction inspection of practices.
5. Position will include some field work in inclement weather and rough terrain.
6. May include classroom education, sitting at community event displays and public presentations.
7. Other duties as assigned by District Manager.
