The Restoration Project Assistant will support the implementation of innovative restoration and conservation practices. With service in the office and the field, the Restoration Project Assistant will have a diverse set of duties that require a high level of motivation, versatility, and independence. Support to the Natural Resources Team includes becoming experienced in freshwater riparian habitat project planning, implementation, project site maintenance, vegetation monitoring, and recruiting and supervising community volunteers. The Restoration Project assistant will also be responsible for assisting with the SCD Annual Native Plant Sale, and helping manage the SCD Native Plant Nursery. Other opportunities within the District include assisting with Green Storm Water Infrastructure (GSI) projects (eg. rain garden construction and management), assisting with beaver management device installation, participating in youth education in the classroom, and supporting SCD staff at outreach events. The individual holding this position serves independently and as part of a team of District staff and other AmeriCorps members.
