Free online training, live discussion and other virtual resources with Wildlife Acoustics
Self-isolating? Unable to get out in the field or to the office as usual? Why not take advantage of this time to brush up on your recording and analysis skills (and get some grown-up conversation if you’ve got kids at home!). 

During the COVID-19 pandemic Wildlife Acoustics will be running a program of online events to help keep you sane. We’re starting with some free training courses and drop-in sessions.

Introduction to Kaleidoscope for Bat Auto ID
– Thursday, May 7th

Learn about using Kaleidoscope Pro for automatic identification of bat species based on acoustic recordings. We’ll go through each step of the process for taking a batch of input audio files and analyzing those files for bat content and species ID. Includes technical discussion of how bat auto ID works, how to deal with multiple species, and how to do manual vetting.

Kaleidoscope Pro Cluster Analysis for Birds and Land Animals
– Thursday, May 14th

Learn to use Cluster Analysis, a feature in Kaleidoscope Pro that extracts audible signals of interest from larger files, and then sorts them by similarity. This is useful for species survey and presence/absence determination. Participants will play along with example recordings, tuning parameters for best results.
