Position is located in Prairie City, Oregon. The position works in the Native Plant Nursery, which produces up to 40,000 containerized plants per year for restoration sites across the John Day River Basin. Duties include planting, seed processing, irrigation management, fertilizer and pesticide application, and frequent lifting of plants and plant trays. Grounds maintenance, equipment operation, seed collection, out-planting at project sites, and other duties are part of workload as assigned. Requires lifting up to and including 50 lbs. and operation of ATV/UTV.

Must have a valid driver’s license and successfully pass a drug test and background check. Applicant must be a high school graduate or have a GED and be 18 years of age or older. Applicant must be able to work independently in an outdoor setting in a safe and efficient manner. Experience in native plant propagation and knowledge of Eastern Oregon riparian plants is desirable. Preference may be given to those candidates with a background in botany, plant ecology, restoration, horticulture, natural resources, or related field.
