Responsibilities

  • The duties of this position are to provide program leadership and direction in fire operations risk management programs for the Intermountain Region Fire and Aviation Management program.
  • The incumbent will plan and coordinate risk management studies and review and analyze regional and national accidents/fatality reports, injuries, and illnesses that result from fire operations.
  • The position formulates policies and guidelines, develops long and short range objectives, establishes priorities, develops plans and programs, budgets, and integrates risk management activities with other resources and programs.
  • The position develops training and/or programs for effective remedial action, to eliminate or strengthen weak areas, and to meet future fire risk management requirements.
  • This position will serve on national teams to develop and revise agency manuals and handbooks that directly relate to wildland fire operations risk management and other duties as assigned.
