Enter our speaker, Harriet Shugarman, Climate Mama and author of How to Talk to Your Kids About Climate Change, Turning Angst to Action. She’ll share how to get that conversation started and turn climate angst in to climate action.

About Harriet Shugarman
Harriet Shugarman is the Executive Director of ClimateMama, an on-line community that she founded in 2009 and which reaches individuals in over 110 countries and all 50 states. As a leader and mentor with The Climate Reality Project, Harriet chairs the Climate Reality NYC Metro Chapter and was the recipient of the Climate Reality 2017 Green Ring Award. A review by the American Library Association of Harriet’s 2020 book, How to Talk to Your Kids About Climate Change, Turning Angst to Action, states that, “Shugarman has written a pointedly apolitical title aimed at easing the climate change conversation between parents and children. Parents and parenting groups will find much to share here.” Selected as a 2020 New York City Climate Hero and a 2019 featured speaker at the Global Engagement Summit at United Nations Headquarters, Harriet is a sought after speaker and adviser on the climate crisis and what we can do about it. Harriet has worked as an economist & policy analyst for provincial governments in Canada and for 13 years with the International Monetary Fund and is currently an adjunct professor teaching World Sustainability and Climate Change and Society at Ramapo College of New Jersey.
