LACEY, Wash. — Students and job-seekers will have an opportunity to connect with a wide range of employers Tuesday, March 31 at the 2015 Career and Internship Fair. The fair, co-sponsored by Saint Martin’s University and The Evergreen State College, will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Marcus Pavilion on the Saint Martin’s University campus, 5300 Pacific Ave. SE. The fair welcomes students, alumni and the public. Admission is free.
This year’s Career and Internship Fair will feature about 100 employers from private industry, government agencies and non-profit organizations. Some will be conducting on-site interviews for full-time, part-time and summer positions. Several colleges and universities will represent their graduate programs at the event.
“The Career Fair is a signature event for our students and the local community. It provides the opportunity for job seekers to meet potential employers and graduate school recruiters to learn about exciting career fields” says Ann Adams, associate dean of students and director of career development at Saint Martin’s.
Adams recommends that job-seekers come prepared by wearing appropriate business attire, bringing multiple copies of resumes and brushing up on interview skills in advance. A list of employers planning to attend can be found at www.stmartin.edu/careercenter/events.
Even for those who are not seeking immediate employment, the fair provides a great opportunity to gather informationfor future internships and jobs as well as expand their network of contacts, Adams says.
This year’s fair sponsors are the Associated Students of Saint Martin’s University, Saint Martin’s Alumni Association, Bon Appétit, Molina Healthcare, ResCare HomeCare, State Farm, CHI Franciscan Health Systems and Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel.

Recent MPA grad Cecelia Loveless has been named the new vice president for institutional advancement at St. Martin’s University. Loveless has a passion for higher education and strives to provide options to all interested students.
The MPA program happily welcomes George Bridges to Evergreen. George will officially take the position on October 1st, 2015.

Last Saturday’s event honored nine Women of Courage and one Man of Integrity who have a made a difference in making a world a better place in which to live through their work and through their character. One of these leaders was Teresa Mosqueda.
Those of you who know Teresa know that she brings a passion for social and economic justice to everything that she does. She is an articulate and fierce advocate for health care for all and, as a member of Washington State’s Health Care Exchange Board, she continuously forces a somewhat reticent and timid Exchange management to live up to the commitment of the Affordable Care Act to make sure that low income families get the best health care coverage available to them.
“I wanted to thank you all for teaching me how to be a concise writer. Congressman Denny Heck’s office called me last week saying he would be in Shelton today and that he wanted to talk to me about the Asset Building Coalition.I have never been in a situation in which an elected official came to me for information. I had to quickly create a highlights paper that described the Asset Building Coalition of Mason County’s programs and accomplishments…during finals week.
I am happy to say that (the MPA faculty) prepared me to write quickly, clearly and concisely for decision makers.
The highlights paper was easy for me to create on short notice, the congressman was impressed (so were the coalition leaders), and I felt very prepared for our meeting. This would not have been the case before I took MPA second year core.
