My Nerdy Evergreen Apartment Life

Short story about the snow here at Evergreen:

So, Monday, it’s bright and sunny. The flowers are popping up and I’m thinking short and flip flop weather is almost here.

To celebrate, I grab my pool towel, shorts, swim shirt and flip flops, and am prepared to hit up the sauna, and maybe the pool, looking forward to some summer-ish activities. But I ran out of time Monday, but I kept my bag packed for later this week, oblivious to what was to come.

And then que Tuesday:

While I may have to wait for the weather to warm up for flip flops, the snow did offer some great photo ops (though I admit I wore them for a bit, snow and flip flops are not the best combo…)

So, spring and summer will come, but for now the snow was quite pretty.

 

On February 10 of 2018, I went to my first ChibiChibiCon, hosted here at the Evergreen State College and put together by Evergreen’s student group/club called The Giant Robot Appreciation Society for free to students and the public annually.

So from 12PM to 12AM I was in a nerdy wonderland of amazing cosplays, panels, games, artists, anime screening rooms, a maid cafe and the main stage events, dressed at Jiji from “Kiki’s Delivery Service” and one of a few Yuri’s from “Yuri on Ice!”

While my cosplays had been a bit too last minute (and I was running off of Ramune and Pocky for most of the day), the convention and the amazing work put into it by everyone who attended there was the was not.

There was even a special lunch menu for the day at The Marketplace in the College Activities Building (or CAB), with Einstein’s Bagels serving up Tokyo Fog Lattes in Seminar 2 or SEM II.

The amount of Evergreen students, artists and merchants who provided amazing original artwork, goods and personalized commissions (just to name a few of the goods and services that were available) to purchase in the Constantion Recreation Center, or CRC, was beyond impressive.

The CRC is also where the main events, (and a cosplay repair station) also took place, including the Cosplay Contest, Lip Sync Battle (my personal favorite) and dance took place.

But I think my favorite part was getting to be a part of such a diverse group of students, community members and other anime lovers from across the Northwest and just have an awesome time!
