Information Session

Learn About a Career Opportunity Unlike Any Other!

Discover how you can have a global impact and show the world a side of America it has never seen.  Don’t miss this rare opportunity to meet with a representative from the U.S. Department of State about the diverse range of careers available to you in the U.S. Foreign Service.  Ms. Brooks A. Robinson, a Senior Foreign Service Officer now serving as Diplomat in Residence at the University of California, Berkeley, will be at The Evergreen State College, Olympia to talk about careers with the State Department.  She is especially interested in talking to those interested in serving as Foreign Service Officers and Specialists, as well as students who might like to apply for a State Department internship.

This information session will cover the Foreign Service Exam and selection process, as well as the 22 Foreign Service Specialist tracks.  We will discuss foreign language skills and other factors that may be involved in consideration of your application.

The State Department is especially interested in candidates who speak any of the Super Critical Needs Languages: Arabic, Mandarin, Farsi, Hindi, Urdu, and Dari.  However, other languages are also of interest and may give applicants an advantage in the hiring process.
