Placemaking Workshops Coordinator – Seeking Qualified Applicants

The 2015 Olympia Village Building Convergence is hosting a series of educational and highly applicable community workshops beginning April 20 prior to the 10 day event in August.

The educational series will consist of modules delivered through 10 weekly workshops and a full-day retreat centered around the VBC’s scope of work, which will include:
 Community asset mapping
 Collaborative community design process
 Neighborhood organizing
 Project management
 Community to city relations
 And more!

The VBC Placemaking workshop series is looking for a part-time coordinator, with a consistent 5-8 hours hours per week from April thru August, with somewhat more time at the beginning. The VBC Placemaking Workshop Coordinator will serve develop and coordinate delivery of the workshop series. These duties include but are not limited to:  Performing community outreach and advertising to enroll participants
 Schedule workshops and help pick module topics
 Schedule space for classes
 Communicate and schedule with teachers and presenters
 Communication with the various committees of the VBC staff to develop curriculum, connect people to resources, and coordinate schedules.
 Provide support to workshop participants to ensure project success
 Create and distribute handouts and templates
 Documentation and reporting outcomes including recording and video

There is a stipend of $1,000 for this position through an independent contract. The workshop series will be the Placemaking Committee’s primary means to connect with, and deliver support and assistance to all of the participating project sites. As such, it will be an essential part of the whole event. The workshop series will also provide incredibly useful information, skills, and hands on learning for all involved, and will continue to grow as the projects and inspiration flourish and evolve.
