Hello, CarbonWA friends: Well, after the US withdrawal from the Paris Agreement, we’ve heard a lot of frustration, outrage, despair and pledges to take action from individuals and local political leaders. Now that the news has settled in, we’ve all talked the talk, now it’s time to walk the walk. Read on, for ways that you can walk your walk and get Washington moving on climate.

June 15th virtual lobby day – write, call, and post for climate action!

We feel like we are beginning to sound like a broken record – once again there is no new news to report from the legislature. The carbon tax remains in play in part because no substantial progress appears to have been made that could rule it out and because the central problem for the legislature remains – they need to rewrite the budget to increase overall funding and don’t appear to have a consensus on how to do so. Together, we’ve done a tremendous job putting a price on carbon in play, working on some of the 4 different bills introduced (review them here), building a 30 group ACT NOW coalition calling for a price NOW, organizing numerous media pieces (like thisthis, and this) and by leading a sustained grassroots lobbying effort. Let’s cap off this great effort with a BANG by making Olympia hear LOUD and CLEAR: we need to take action on climate change NOW!

Please join us for the June 15th advocacy day – we’ll be writing, calling, and posting in favor of climate action.

SIGN UP NOW FOR OUR JUNE 15th VIRTUAL LOBBY DAY

On June 15th, our entire network and many of our ACT NOW coalition partners will be teaming up for a virtual lobby day to call on the legislature to ACT NOW. Please help us on June 15th by signing up, sharing the event on Facebook, and recruiting your friends.

Let’s do this.

Virtual lobby-day for climate action 6/15!

Join the ACT NOW coalition (Advocates for a Carbon Tax NOW) for a phonebanking day in support of a carbon tax!Right now the legislature is in their SECOND special session and they have to pass a budget by June 30th! While a price on carbon isn’t a sure thing, there are multiple bills being considered that could tax carbon as a part of the final state budget. Will you help us make sure the legislature knows that voters are demanding that they take action on climate change?

Once you sign up, we’ll email you a phonebanking guide.  You can make your calls from home or you can join us at the CarbonWA office. It should only take about 10 minutes to call your legislators.

Date:  Thursday, June 15.  Call from anywhere.  Anytime between 9 am – 7 pm.
