Job Title:              Program Coordinator

Status:                  Full Time (32 hours)/ Non-exempt/ Regular Reports to:                                Program Director

Location:              Main Office – Wallingford

 

Tilth Alliance is an agricultural and environmental education organization that seeks to inspire and educate people to safeguard our natural resources while building an equitable and sustainable local environment through hands-on education in gardening, composting, pesticide reduction, and recycling activities. We serve communities throughout Seattle, the East side and South King County.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Seattle Public Utilities’ community-based Master Composter/Sustainability Steward program
  • Develop and implement yearly volunteer training
  • Coordinate and support diverse volunteer recruitment for spring training
  • Lead efforts to build and maintain relationships with community partners, including community groups, schools, businesses, and faith-based organizations, in order to create community-based projects for volunteers
    • Coordinate and support volunteer outreach and community-based volunteer projects
    • Deliver educational presentations on program topics including composting, recycling, natural yard care, and water quality
    • Track and report on program activities, including contract deliverables
    • Support and collaborate with Garden Hotline and other team members and other programs as necessary, with work related to composting, recycling, natural yard care, water quality, and environmental stewardship
      • Support the development and success of all Tilth Alliance programs, attend staff meetings, support events and other duties related to being a member of the Tilth Alliance staff
    • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed

Desired Experience

  • Experience in community outreach
  • Demonstrated ability and success working with people from a variety of racial, cultural and economic backgrounds
  • Experience in capacity building with diverse groups, proven ability to network with partner agencies, and build relationships with groups and individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience in experiential/ hands-on composting, recycling and/or environmental education

 

  • Experience developing both classroom and garden based curriculum and teaching adults and children in a non-traditional setting
  • Experience in program tracking and reporting
  • Competence with Microsoft Access and Excel
  • Experience training, coordinating, and supervising staff and volunteers
  • Experience managing relationships with external funders and successfully meeting client objectives
  • BA or BS degree in a related field

Required Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer, organizational and time management skills
  • Self-directed, able to work independently and on a team and follow through on deadlines
  • Have a vehicle and be able to transport self and teaching/ outreach materials to locations throughout King County

 

This position is 32 hours per week that requires some evening and weekend work. It is eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, Flexible Spending Account for childcare, healthcare and transportation expenses, 401k, paid vacation, sick and holiday time. This position will be based at the main office in Wallingford. Compensation is $17.50 – $21 per hour, DOE.
