The Seattle Department of Transportation is seeking a college student, ideally a junior or senior, to help create a parking space inventory for city blocks with Restricted Parking Zone (RPZ) signs.

Educational Benefit to Student:

Knowledge of City curb space types regulations and restrictions.
Processes for developing an inventory of parking spaces within City right-of-way.
Transportation planning.
Some data analysis and mapping.

 Job Responsibilities:
  • Field work, measuring available curb space for parking on RPZ-signed blocks.
  • Download data into Excel spreadsheets or other electronic tools/databases.
  • Workgroup and division meetings and related administration.
 Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Must be enrolled in an accredited educational program preferably studying Transportation Engineering, Urban Planning or Public Policy.

Undergraduate interns must maintain a satisfactory GPA of 2.0 or higher for the duration of the internship.

Experience:

  • Interest in transportation planning and field work.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work independently in the field.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Transportation planning experience.
 Additional Information:
Start/End Dates:  Intern will start work in late June/early July, 2018 and end in June, 2019.

Schedule:  Intern will work between 16-20 hours/week.  Work hours can be scheduled between 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Salary:  Undergraduates will be paid $16.56/hour.
