Have an interest in natural resources? Want to help foster interest in the next generation? Become a volunteer proctor for Envirothon! At this regional competition, high school teams from Thurston, Pierce, Lewis, Grays Harbor, Mason, and Kitsap counties compete to demonstrate their knowledge of five topics: Soils, Water, Forestry, Wildlife and a current topic (this year’s is Western Rangeland Management).

Envirothon gives students the chance to be part of a team and study our region’s natural resources and issues in depth. It also gives them the chance to meet other young people from around the south sound with shared interests, as well as volunteers and role models who are actively studying or working in natural resources.

Volunteers proctor half-hour, written/hands-on exams to student teams. You can also serve on the three-person panel that judges the oral presentation.

No knowledge or experience required, just a desire to inspire youth!
To sign up as a volunteer, either follow the link to follow out the form, or email tcdamericorps@thurstoncd.com.
