SCIENCE EDUCATION WORKSHOP IN TACOMA

SeaDoc invites educators to a workshop on Jan. 19th at Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma. This is a chance for 3rd-8th grade teachers, environmental educators, and marine science organizations to explore ways to connect young people with the Salish Sea through effective science teaching. You will receive our best-selling book, Explore the Salish Sea, a catered lunch, door prizes, and networking opportunities with fellow educators.

 

free, one-day workshop for tooling up to teach Next Generation Science Standards-linked Salish Sea Curriculum. Earn 8 Washington State-approved TPEP and STEM Clock Hours.

 

What do you get when you bring classroom teachers and marine educators and scientists to the Aquarium for the day? A sea-wide network of experts, collaborating to raise ocean-literate Salish Sea youth.

 

You are invited to an interactive educator workshop to support our common goal of healing the Salish Sea by inspiring a lifetime of ocean literacy and stewardship in the next generation. Participants who sign up before January 1st will receive a copy of Explore the Salish Sea prior to workshop.

  • Receive hands-on, NGSS-linked Salish Sea-based lesson plans for your students, based on the best-selling book, Explore the Salish Sea: A Nature Guide for Kids
  • Receive an example Teacher/Principal Evaluation Program (TPEP) inquiry to measure the efficacy of implementing SeaDoc Youth Education strategies in your science lessons
  • Earn 8 Washington State-approved TPEP and STEM Clock Hours
  • Receive a free copy of Explore the Salish Sea, A Nature Guide for Kids for yourself
  • Receive free class sets of the new Explore the Salish Sea books for 5th graders in Title I schools
  • Connect with nearby marine science and stewardship experts who may visit your classroom or support a field experience, or with classroom teachers to support their students’ marine ecosystem education
  • Enjoy a delicious lunch provided by SeaDoc!
