The Communication Coordinator is a communication professional with strong written, oral, visual and interpersonal communications skills, and a proactive approach to identifying communication needs.

The position supports the mission of CED and its centers/programs by providing communication and marketing services that ensure a wide range of external and internal communities and constituencies are aware of and understand the work of CED’s centers/programs, and the opportunities/services that they provide.

They will also cordinate the day-to-day communication and marketing operations, develops and implements annual communication plans, proactively looks for opportunities to communicate about the centers/programs, and builds collaborative working relationships with center/program leadership, faculty and staff within CED.

The Communication Coordinator will also be coordinating the design, writing, editing and publishing of CED centers/programs’ printed and electronic communication including outreach materials, brochures, newsletters, eNews, website, social media, reports, etc.

Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications or related field and two (2) years of professional level writing/editing experience which has included word processing computer applications and a demonstrated knowledge of graphic arts principles. A Master’s degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to (1) one year of the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated graphic design experience with Adobe Creative Suite (especially with InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator).
Proficient with web site management systems, such as WordPress and email marketing systems, such as MailChimp.
Experience working in a higher education setting.
Demonstrate ability to relate to and collaborate with a wide range of people from varied local and economic levels, ages, races, ethnic backgrounds as well as in rural,suburban, and urban settings.
Strong demonstrated written skills requiring limited editing and supervision in preparing reports,evaluations, press releases, synthesize a broad range of materials, and effective written conveyance of program information to the public and program participants.
Strong demonstrated verbal communication and listening skills.
Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office products.
Ability to work and think both independently and to work as a team member.
